Exploring how to live meaningfully better.

One field note a week: one thing I tested on the way to a meaningfully better life, what happened, and whether it's worth your time.

What's running right now

  • Hug dealing

Offering hugs to strangers, on purpose, and keeping notes on what it does to a day.

  • Earth-sheltered greenhouse office

Designing a workplace that is half garden, half burrow.

  • Intelligent consumption

Feeding my mind what matters, and starving what doesn't.

  • Protein pancakes, 100 at a time

The batch recipe, the freezer method, and what I'm still testing. Read the field note

About

Why this exists

Things aren't adding up. All the advances, technological and otherwise, look great on paper, and translating them into a better quality of life is unreliable at best. There has to be a better way.

So I run my life as a series of experiments and publish what survives six months, including what turned out to be a waste. One field note a week: one thing tested, what happened, whether it's worth your time. Right now that's dealing hugs, designing an earth-sheltered greenhouse office, and feeding my mind what matters.

I don't have all the answers. What works keeps changing and I keep exploring. Join the journey, it's better together.
